This Is Your Sign to Throw a Bookish Galentine’s Party

A complete guide to hosting a Galentine’s celebration for book lovers

Always Booked was founded on a love of books, friendships, and a really good themed party. Valentine’s Day, nay, Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate all three. We hosted (and we say this as humbly as possible) an amazing Galentine’s party last year and have another one currently brewing. Because we want your celebrations to be just as special, we’ve laid out everything that made our event memorable from over-the-top Galentine’s day decor and cutest bookish and non-bookish activities.

We very much wanted our Galentine’s Party to feel like a Galentine’s Book Club. Instead of reading and discussing one book, we opted to instead incorporate our love of books through the decor, snacks, and activities we planned.

How to Create a Bookish Galentine’s Vibe

  • Bookish Valentine’s Day Cards: When our guests arrived, they were greeted with a Valentine’s Day card from their favorite bookish boyfriend or girlfriend. Sounds cheesy, and it is, but they will loved it. We’re harnessing the power of nostalgia with this one, people! You will also absolutely always get bonus bonus if you put in the extra effort and seal it with a wax stamp.

  • Photo Wall: People love a photo opportunity, and a bow wall is the perfect backdrop for the season. Don’t a fan of bows? Don’t do them. Replace it with whatever you do like!

  • Galentine’s Decor: If you want to go all out like us, you can hang streamers from the ceilings and/or cover every wall with some form of red or pink. It’s fine, it’s only for a few hours.

  • Bookish Tables: We scattered every table with book pages in lieu of a tablecloth, it was a great, cute way to tie books back into our event. You could also do books themselves as centerpieces.

  • Snacks: Our Galentine’s Day event was BYOB and we provided the snacks. If you’re going to go all out with decor, make sure to have cups, lates, cutlery, and napkins to match.

Bookish Galentine’s Activities

  • Bookish smash cakes: We printed off pictures of our favorite bookish characters, attached them to toothpicks and provided everyone with mini cupcakes. Was it silly? Yes. Did everyone have a blast doing it? Also yes.

  • Book Title Game: We printed off covers of our favorite books, redacted the titles, and had guests try to fill in the blanks. Some were easy and others were red herrings. You can do this by team or individually, depending on your guest count. As a little Galentine’s Day gift from us to you, here’s a link to our books if you want to use the same ones we did.

  • Bookish Trivia: We created an impossibly difficult trivia game where we read quotes about love and guests had to guess which book it was from.

  • Flowers: We hosted our Galentine’s party at a local floral shop, so each guest was able to make their own mini bouquet to take home. If you can swing this, we highly suggest it! A more budget friendly option would be to grab a few larger bouquets from your local Trader Joe’s or other grocery store, and let your guests take from each one to make their own unique bundle.

At the end of the day, a bookish Galentine’s party isn’t about perfect decor or doing the most. It’s about gathering people you love, sharing stories, and creating moments that feel meaningful and fun.

Whether it’s a full themed night or a casual girls night in, the best celebrations are the ones that feel easy, intentional, and centered on connection…and books!

As always, get booked <3
